I had been participating in group exercise classes regularly for over four years. A friend of mine encouraged me to take the Kettle Bell class at the Gathering Place taught by Bruce Salazar. I took the class and liked the workout that I got with the kettle bells. It was after this class that I decided to start working with Bruce on an individual basis as I tend not to follow through with exercising on my own. After several months I found that I had lost weight, weight that I didn’t think I could ever lose as I didn’t really need to lose much and I had gained strength. I think Bruce does a great job of providing a whole body workout utilizing kettle bells, TRX, and a few other pieces of equipment. He is also very knowledgeable with regard to nutrition and overall physical health.

I’ve lost close to 20 lbs, and so far, I’ve been able to maintain the weight loss. My strength and mobility are both noticeably improved. Two years ago, I was in my late 30s, overweight, and generally out-of-shape. My desk job limited my physical activity; my time constraints limited the time I could exercise. My son, Brandon (19yrs), has Autism. When he expressed a desire to build strength, we wanted to make sure he learned to do the exercises in a safe, healthy manner. For Brandon, the autism impacts his fine and gross motor skills. As a result his flexibility and coordination both needed work. New experiences are anxiety provoking for Brandon, so the idea of working with a personal trainer was scary for him at first, but Bruce put his fears to rest in no time. Bruce was able to explain things in ways that made sense for Brandon. While the work outs themselves were always challenging, Brandon clearly enjoyed his time with Bruce and benefitted not only from the education and suggestions provided that increased his strength and flexibility but by the positive role modeling Bruce provided.

As a mother of two and a full time nurse in a correctional facility, I knew I needed more strength and stamina. Due to other issues and a hectic schedule, I had gained quite a bit of weight that I was never able to take off after my second child was born. I finally decided it was time to make a change. I signed up with Bruce and in two months time I have lost 15 lbs, 2 sizes, and I am stronger than I have ever been! Training with Bruce has been challenging but fun. I want to express again my amazement at the results that I've experienced in the short time we've been working. He has been very patient and brought me along slowly to a point where I'm doing things that I've not done in 25 years. With little or no pain! His technique and personality has certainly helped me to undertake something as outside the box for someone my age. My many orthopedic problems were taken into consideration with the result being I've not felt better in many years. I thank Bruce for his attention to me. It's very pleasing to have someone caring about my physical as well as my spiritual needs.

When I first met Bruce I was skeptical about the methods he uses to train, specifically the TRX and Kettlebells. As a chiropractor I deal with injuries of all kinds, some from poor exercise technique. I can say with confidence that Bruce's methods for training are not only safe but injury preventative. I can also say with confidence that they are very effective because I have been training with Bruce myself, and I have lost 10 lbs, gained more strength than I thought possible at my age, and I can keep up with my children much better.
